(16) ESCHATOLOGY (THE LAST THINGS) - We believe the Scriptures teach that the next event on God’s prophetic calendar will be the imminent return of Christ and the rapture of all church-age believers. Immediately following this will be the Judgment Seat of Christ in Heaven where believers will be judged to determine the granting or losing of rewards for service while on earth after they were saved. Following this will be the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. During this time of Heavenly activities, there will be on the earth the seven years duration of the Great Tribulation. This will mark God’s dealings with Israel as a nation and also with unregenerate mankind who have refused Jesus through the personages of the Anti-Christ, the beast, and the false prophet. Although the Holy Spirit is in the world during this time, His restraining power has been removed. It is also during this seven year period on earth that the Anti-Christ, beast, and false prophet will have their rise and destruction. |

All of this will be consummated at the Battle of Armageddon which will take place at Christ’s Revelation, when He returns with His Bride to set up His millennial reign. Christ will then rule for a thousand years with a rod of iron during which time there will be peace, prosperity, and removal of the curse on the earth. Also during this time Satan will be bound for the 1,000 years in the bottomless pit, after which he will be loosed for a little season to gather to himself all of the apostates of the world, to do battle against the Lord for the last time. Satan and his host will be defeated and cast into the lake of fire. Following this will be the resurrection of the unrighteous dead and a judgment on the basis of their works. All will be cast into the lake of fire. Following this will be the creation of the new heavens and the new earth.
