Reaching Cork for Christ |
(11) THE SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER - A person is eternally secure in Christ from the moment of salvation; the believers standing before God is perfect and changeless; and that keeping power is based on the finished work of Christ. I Peter 1.5; John 10:2730; I John 5.12,13 |
(12) THE TWO NATURES OF THE BELIEVER - Every saved person has two natures, the old and the new; the old nature is the flesh and the new nature is the Spirit; the first is sinful and the latter is perfect; and that claims to eradication of sin in the old nature in this life is unscriptural. Gal. 5.1626; Eph. 4:2224; Rom. 6:13 |
(13) THE BELIEVERS LIFE - He is to live according to the Word of God at any cost; he is to deny ungodliness and worldly lust and to live soberly, righteously and godly; thus a life that glorifies God in word and deed and points others to Christ. Titus 2.1114; Rom. 12:1,2; Matt. 5:1416 |
(14) THE ORDINANCES - The ordinances are two, namely, baptism and the Lord’s Supper. They speak of Christ and the believers relationship to Him. In the act of baptism (meaning immersion) the believer identifies himself with the burial and resurrection of Christ and thus declares his faith in the finished work of the Gospel. Rom. 6:35. In the act of the Lords Supper, the believer shows forth the death and coming again of Christ; this must be accompanied by self examination. I Cor. 11:2328 |

(15) THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH - This is an organized assembly of baptized believers associated by a covenant of faith whose only authority in faith and practice is the Word of God; it is to be actively engaged in preaching the Gospel and sending missionaries; observing the Scriptural ordinances; teaching believers how to live and providing fellowship; the church is to be self-governing and free from denominational or political control. Matt. 28:19,20; I Tim. 3:15; Matt. 18:1518 |
